Chill out at Tanglewood in The Berkshires

Spend a laid back relaxing day on the Lawn at Tanglewood listening to superb music.
You don’t have to be a classical music aficionado to enjoy Tanglewood! The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere relaxing and the concerts we heard were excellent. If you are visiting The Berkshires make an effort to go to Tanglewood – you won’t be sorry!

We initially went for the Sunday afternoon performance at 14.30 and landed up staying for the evening performance as well. It was great. Highly recommend buying lawn tickets as opposed to sitting on the hard benches and chairs in the Music Shed. There is a special atmosphere outside on the lawn. The acoustics are great and the experience really worthwhile.

Sitting on the lawn at Tanglewood

Take chairs, a picnic basket, blankets and good wine and you are in for a great experience. We stayed at the wonderful bed and breakfast in Stockbridge – 1862 Season on Main . It is a superb bed and breakfast. The Innkeeper supplied us with  chairs, blankets and picnic carrier. We just had to buy the food and drink.

For the Sunday performance starting at 14.30 the gates open at 12:00. Suggest that you arrive early so as to get a good spot on the lawn and maximize the experience.

Tickets for Tanglewood

Tickets can be bought online:-https://www.bso.org/ – however their fees are quite high . Lawn tickets cost $ 21 and their fees are $ 6.50 per ticket – a bit over the top! Our Innkeeper  very kindly went to Tanglewood for us and bought the tickets with no extra fees attached.

We spent two nights at Stockbridge and could have spent more. Visit the Norman Rockwell Museum – the drive to the Museum is a wonderful scenic road and the museum is in a glorious setting. Stroll around Stockbridge and enjoy the quaint shops. If you have a car, which really is a prerequisite here, drive around the area. The Berkshires are lush and beautiful (we were there in Summer) so wherever you drive to will indeed be worthwhile. We spent several hours walking around Lennox which is bigger than Stockbridge. Yet for me I preferred the vibe in Stockbridge.
